SOUNDTRACK - delays
Folks, I’m sad to announce that SOUNDTRACK is officially not going to be ready for October 31. My apologies to anyone who has been anticipating it, though not to worry, it is still coming.
See, I just picked the date out of the air back when it was sufficiently far enough away to allow for any further work to be done in plenty of time. However, I didn’t have a great sense of how I wanted to present it for the release party, and/or subsequent live ”performances”. I kind of just thought I’d throw it together along the way. Well, the ideas have been plentiful lately, and as this vision of mine develops, it’s quite clear to me that I just can’t get it together for Hallowe’en. ARGHH!!! (I’m feeling pretty lame about it too, but I guess you can’t rush these things) I do think I’m fortunate to be able to partially blame my foot-dragging on SOUNDTRACK’s fit and finish on being involved in a couple of different mixing projects that I’m very excited about….Brad Sucks 2nd album and the debut release by The Peptides. (September 2nd, be sure to check out the samples on the website)
But the good news is that all the time spent continuing to flesh this project out means SOUNDTRACK will now be a really, really cool, intimate and immersive sort-of performance designed to be most impactful in your livingroom with a bunch of music loving friends. I’ve been to a few house concerts by folk musicians traveling through town and they are an awesome way to take in new music. But they are usually just guy and guitar, so I’m trying to put together a show that uses a bunch of different media to create an environment for cool music, combining live and pre-recorded tracks, and much food for thought.
In any case, I’m mostly just sad to postpone this project of mine which seems to me to have taken forever to get this far, but I’m excited as all get out (and that’s way excited, btw), about what I’m seeing in my mind’s eye as the end result of all this work.
I’ll still pepper the SOUNDTRACK site with snippets, hints and audio to keep things interesting. As of right now, all I can give in terms of a possible rescheduled release is likely Spring 08.
Incidentally, I’ve already started recording album #2, which conceptually couldn’t be much different than SOUNDTRACK. Stay tuned for demos in the coming weeks.
