Done and DONE

After many hours working on my studio tan, I’m happy to report both Brad Sucks and The Peptides albums are mixed and mastered and completely finished.   I’m super excited for both releases as I think they sound awesome, and a big tip o’ the hat to both artists for working up top shelf albums.

Now all that is left is for me to finish SOUNDTRACK, for which the final push has begun in earnest.  I’ve decided to re-record much of the album, which shouldn’t take very much time, considering I know the music already, in order to leverage all that I’ve learned over the course of 3 full album mix projects in the last 2 years.   As well, the last 6 months has seen some improvements to my rig, gear-wise, notably Native Instruments ‘ Kore 2 and Komplete5, along with a bunch of kick ass UAD plugins that I’ve learned inside out, and a new American Stratocaster, which is just dying to be recorded.   I plan this week coming to be exploration time, digging deep into Kore and Komplete to see what can be done with them, and then it’s go time, where I hope to stick to a fairly up-tempo schedule with regards to laying tracks down and finishing the album.   I’ve also decided to push back the live show/cd release concept, and only just have a normal release party, perhaps with a modest live show, so that I can attack the massive amount of prep work for a full art installation style show for SOUNDTRACK , distraction-free.  There really isn’t any rush other than in my head…

In the meantime, redcar keeps threatening to explode again, with a huge name change as well as fixing its website,  my long-time musical cohort Fingertown and I are circling around a project that promises to be very cool, and Gert , having just returned from a romp south of Boston, ought to be throwing things into gear and laying some dirt down real soon…probably with something in C# the way Smalltown Mike likes it.

All in all, the fall looks to be pretty stacked musically, and after two long-ish projects, I’m eager to get ripping on the creative tip.  That said, if another album came my way to mix, I wouldn’t say no.   I do love the mixing… :)
