Brad Sucks @ The Live Lounge
Sigh……I knew it’d be hard, but not that hard. Went to catch the first live show of Brad Sucks since my decision to part company from the live band in favour of spending more time at home with the loved ones. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it all, and it was tough at first. At the best of times, musicians watching other musicians playing are envious, ‘cuz we all want to be on stage performing. But when it’s the band you just left, (albeit completely amicably), it’s pretty whack.
Anyhow, I’m happy to report the show rocked. It’s a big change to go from a two guitarist, 4 member squad down to a single guitar (who’s also singing) 3 piece, especially when it’s always only ever been a 4 piece. Brad, Bruce and Richard (filling in for Matt on bass) pulled it off really, really well. Super energy, tight performances, and really…it has to be said, a much improved clarity in the overall sound. The kind of clarity that comes from taking one guitar out of the mix.
So rock on Brad! Great set! I’m really jazzed it went so well for you guys. Looking forward to the next show which I’ll be at for sure, drinking, carrying-on and yelling for Zeppelin… :) Someone’s got to do it, right?
